Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift spotted testing with updated design and new features expected

Maruti Suzuki has begun testing a new version of the Fronx, with our first look at the camouflaged prototype hinting at an important upgrade for the compact SUV. The test mule was spied in heavy camo on Indian streets, implying that changes, while not drastic, are surely underway. It seems that, from an exterior standpoint, the biggest changes could come to the front end. Our prototype is sporting a new grille and updated headlamps with a bumper that looks slightly redesigned. In addition, it’s likely to carry new alloy wheels, while minor styling cues and a new bumper could make up any rear changes.

There is even the potential for a larger touchscreen infotainment unit to replace the existing display. Furthermore, there are reports of a fully digital instrument console coming to the compact SUV. We could see even more updates, including a sunroof and a ventilated front seats configuration as Maruti Suzuki seeks to improve its appeal. Other areas of upgrade may include features like advanced driver assistance systems, though it is unclear if the latter will appear on the car when it comes to India.

It is possible that the new version of the Fronx won’t have any new powertrains immediately, sticking to the same petrol and turbo petrol engines that come in the current iteration. The new version may or may not get a hybrid system too, that may however come at a later date than its launch. The Fronx has performed well for its maker, with Maruti Suzuki looking to ensure it stays up to scratch rather than making too many big changes.

As it is, rivals have been beefing up their offerings with newer engines and features and it seems Maruti Suzuki wants to do the same. While the Fronx facelift is likely to be released next year, the changes are not likely to be drastic, and the model may gain just a little more in terms of styling and feature enhancements to continue competing in a competitive landscape.
